The CURE Act amends the Higher Education Act to authorize grants to rural institutes of higher education to improve the academic opportunities that prepare students for careers in high-need jobs and careers important to the local region. The grants would also be used to improve the enrollment rates of rural high school graduates in rural institutes of higher education and to encourage nontraditional students to enroll in rural institutes of higher education. Lastly, regional employers and rural institutes of higher education would receive funding for the use of fostering partnerships to train and hire students in careers relevant to the regional economy.
