Bob Wise, president of the Alliance for Excellent Education and former governor of West Virginia, issued the following statement in response to today’s announcement of a major new initiative by the AT&T Foundation to keep students in high school and graduate them ready for college and the workforce:
“Those of us dedicated to increasing the nation’s high school graduation rate and improving the value of a high school diploma are excited by the AT&T Foundation’s announcement today. This initiative represents a major step forward in making sure every child in this country is prepared with a high-quality education so that they enter college or the workforce with the skills and knowledge to succeed. With the commitment of the AT&T Foundation, the mission to save America’s high schools and strengthen the nation’s economic future moves closer to becoming a reality.”
